The Genesis Week – Introduction

Introduction: - Psalm. 51:10. The Message Bible.

“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life”

David is turning to the God of Creation. Genesis.1:1-3. The Genesis week starts.

v.1. Creation Heb = “Bara” v.2. Chaos – Holy Spirit waiting for God’s word to move.

v.3. Rom.10:17. First the WORD (sound), “Let there be light” restoration begins!

Isaiah.55:6-7. a. Seek the Lord while He may be found.

b. Call upon Him while He is near

c. Let the wicked forsake his way. Wicked = iniquity.

d. And the unrighteous man his thoughts (imagination)

e. Let him return to the Lord.

f. And He will have mercy on him.

g. And to our God for He will abundantly (greatly, many) pardon.

Note:- Five things we must do! “a to e”. Two things the Lord does in response! “f and g”

 

1. 2. Samuel. 11 & 12. David’s fall and restoration.

 

a. 11:1-5. Adultery – Bathsheba. v.1 & 5. Be sure sin will find you out!

b. 11:6-25. Attempted deception and finally Uriah is murdered.

c. 11:26-26. David takes Bathsheba as a wife.

d. 11.27c. “ BUT THE THING THAT DAVID HAD DONE DISPLEASED THE LORD”

e. Psalm.32:1-7 & Psalm38:1-22. Describes mental & physical chaos of David.

f. David in terrible state of chaos – Holy Spirit is waiting for God and His prophet.

 

God’s grace and mercy revealed!

 

a. 12:1-12. GOD SENDS HIS WORD – Thru Nathan the prophet – challenges David

b. 12.7-9. v.8. Much! Much! More! Missed out on God’s full blessings. Jn.10:10b

c. 12:13-15. v.13a “ I have greatly sinned against the Lord”

2. Psalm.51:1-17. David’s Psalm of Repentance. Face to face with God! OPEN! HONEST!

 

Four important things to note:-

 

a. Realized God’s grace responds “TO FAITH” REACHES OUT IN FAITH! Rom.5:1-2.

b. From position of a SINNER – HE ASKS FOR DIVINE MERCY!

c. He is convinced of GOD’S WILLINGNESS TO RESTORE!

d. Also persuaded that GOD HAS THE POWER TO RESTORE.

v.1-13 & 17.

Note. v.10. David’s appeal for forgiveness is direct to the Creator, he has realized that he can do nothing to achieve restoration into the grace and goodness of God.

He uses the strongest possible appeal for help!

Psalm.63:1-4, v.3. “Because your loving kindness is better than life”

Conclusion. Rom.4:1-8. Abraham and David were JUSTIFIED on the ground of FAITH

The Genesis week Pt.1

 

Introduction:- Psalm.51:10. The Message Bible.

 

“God, make fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life”

 

David turns to the God of Creation, Gen.1:1-2. The Genesis week starts. He needs something extra special to restore his relationship with God – A GENESIS WEEK!

 

n.b. Miss start of movie/show, disappointing and hard follow the story, same with God’s word, miss Genesis and it’s hard to understand rest of the Bible.

 

God’s work of restoration – done in controlled and orderly fashion!

 

1. Gen.1:1-2. Gap theory!

a. Heb, Bara = to make/bring something out of nothing!

b. v.2. Holy Spirit waiting for God’s word to move upon the chaos.

 

2. Gen.1:3-5. a. Romans.10:17. First the Sound of God’s voice, action follows.

 

i. 1.Kings.19:12. Elijah – Cave – Spiritually dark – v.12. The Sound of God’s voice. “Go return” - Out of darkness back into light – Ministry.

ii. God frequently speaks to our conscience – Stop hiding problem in darkness of mind “Go return” – Repent – time to get right with the Lord.

 

John.10:8-12. Light of the world! Without light. There can be no life!

 

3 Psalm.119:130. Psalm.119:105. Read in the Message for clarity if necessary.

 

4 Acts.9:1-19. Paul sets out to Damascus, man in chaotic state of mind, later refers to fact that God had His hand upon him since birth - Galation.1:15-17.

A.D. 37. Never forgot his experience on the Damascus Road.

 

iii. v.3-7. Saw light flashing around him. Heard voice speaking to him.

Men heard sound (no voice) did not see anyone.

 

iv. Acts.22:6-9. Saw light, heard voice. Men saw light, did not understand voice speaking to him. A.D.58

 

v. Acts.26:12-14. Midday – Paul sees the light, everyone falls down, and only Paul hears the voice of Christ speaking to him. A.D.58-60

 

5. John.9:1-34, v.32. Blind man – Pool of Siloam. Eyes Created?

 

i. Jesus v.7 Man hears the SOUND OF VOICE, goes returns SEEING – LIGHT!

 

6. I.John.1:1-4. Fellowship at the very highest level.

a. Fellowship came from walking with Jesus – Relationship.

b. Hebrews.10:25. We need fellowship we are to be victorious!

 

c. 1. John.1:5-10. a. Walk in the light – conditions of fellowship.

 

b Never deceive ourselves

 

c Confession of sins.

 

This clearly reveals –The sanctifying blood of Christ upon our sins is conditional.

7. 1.Peter.2:9-12. Day of visitation, personal or the Second Coming of Christ!

a. This could be our personal DAY OF VISITATION, time God is saying to us

“LET THERE BE LIGHT”

Conclusion. James.1:17 -19.

v.17. a. Good gift = Emphasis upon the giving -The act of giving gk Dosis.

b. Perfect gift = The gift itself. A free gift gk.Dorema

 

 

 

 

 

The Genesis Week Part.2

Introduction. Psalm.51:10. The Message Bible.

“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life”

David turns to God for help, having realized that in his present state of chaos he needed a GENESIS WEEK OF RESTORATION. He is comparing his own state of mind to the condition the earth was in when God began to move and restore the situation.

God, uses an orderly and controlled process of restoration.

1. Gen.1:3-5. First day “Let there be light”

2. Genesis.1: Second Day “Let there be separation” Division of the waters.

a. Luke.22:32-33. The Cross – Separates. Saved from the unsaved.

b. Day.2. Picture of Calvary – 1.Cor.1:21-25.

c. Rom.12:1-2 – Process of separation is continuous. Eph.4:22-24.

3. John.8:1—11. Woman taken in adultery – Jesus emphasizes separation.

a. His response – He will deal first with their self righteousness and pride.

b. Stoops down, writes in the dust. The word?

c. v.7a. They demand an answer! What Him to agree with them!

e. v.7b. Gives His answer – not what they expected or demanded!

f. v.8. He stoops and again writes in the dust – says nothing to them.

g. v.9. WHEN THEY HEARD THIS? God’s still small voice? They departed.

h. v.10. Where are your accusers? No one to accuse or condemn you?

i. v.11. “No one Lord!” “NEITHER DO I, GO AND SIN NO MORE!”

Note. Woman in state of chaos and fear – Jesus the creator – restored her, placing emphasis upon FUTURE SEPERATION.

4. Process of separation – Takes time physically – Spiritually instant at conversion

 

 

Illustration:-

a. Abram must be separated from Terah his father and Lot his nephew.

b. Moses must be separated from Egypt – 40 years DESERT to work EGYPT out.

c. God’s choice 1.Sam.13:14 “Lord looks for a man after His own heart”

d. 1.Sam.16:7d. “But the Lord Looks upon the heart”

THE LORD DOES NOT CHOSE ANYONE FOR THEIR PERFECTIONS – HE DOES CHOSE THEM – IF THEY HAVE HEART FOR GOD AND ARE WILLING TO DO HIS WILL!

e.David is such a man – His separation and moulding experience came through King Saul’s jealousy and persecution.

 

f.Paul – Galations.1:15-17. 3-Years in Arabia – The Lord is training him for work

ahead.

Conclusion:- 2.Cor.6:14 -7:1. To walk in the LIGHT – means separation from DARKNESS.
