v.16-22b. Positive response to new message.

v.19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Year of Jubilee 50. Lev.25:8-17.

Message - “This is God’s year to act”

NLT - “And that the time of the Lord’s favour has come”

NIV - “To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour”

There is no need to wait for the 50th Year of Jubilee - This year! Now!

v.22b. Negative reaction “Is this not Josepha’s son?” Problem His teaching

conflicted with their religion, mind-set and preconceived ideas.

John.12:28-29. God spoke from heaven. Crowd heard something. Thunder or

an angel. Only Jesus heard properly - In the Spirit!

Roman.10:17. niv. “Consequently faith comes from hearing the message, and

the message is heard through the WORD (rhema - active)of Christ

1. Ex.6:6-8 & Dt.6:10-12. God’s purpose declared - Bring “YOU OUT to bring YOU IN”

First deliverance, then into the PROMISED LAND in the FIRST YEAR OF THEIR FREEDOM.

2.Cor.5:7 - None had seen the Promised Land! Required to walk by faith.

2. Num.13:1- 14:38. Approx 4 -months after deliverance Spies enter into the land.

a. Journey approx 1200kms from SOUTH to North of the country.

b. Never challenged - God hid them from enemy sight - Col.3:3 “For you died

and your life(new real life) is hidden with Christ in God.”

v.1-2. Leaders - experienced men. True character revealed under pressure.

v.20. “Be of good courage”

v.23-27. Return with fruit of the land - evidence

v.28-33. Grass-hopper mentality. Long legs to jump out of trouble, short arms

to fight with, easily camouflaged. Blend into their surroundings.

Num.14. The result of their lack of faith in God’s Word! 40 years in Wilderness

until a new generation is born and developed.

v. 1-4 Lesson how few negative men can effect all the people.

This is the year of the Lord’s favour - How will we respond?
