Introduction:- John.1:14-16

Lk.9:23-24. Every New year, we are challenged to “Take up the cross and follow Jesus”

With the best of intentions we make RESOLUTION to do so, then we find the going gets

harder as He possibly demands more than we visualized. Challenges come!

1. John.10:27-31. 2010 – Vision. Following Jesus. Psalm.23:1-6 David captured the vision!

a. “My sheep hear my voice” – Listen! Hear! Obey!

b. “And I know them” - Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves. Our strengths

weaknesses, and abilities for every kind of ministry. Eph.2:10.

c. “And they follow Me” - John.10:14. “I am the good shepherd”

Heb.13:20-21. “The great Shepherd” *****

1.Pet.5:4. “The chief Shepherd” *****(Promise)

2. John.6:66-69. Lesson – Majority of disciples want to follow Him for the wrong reasons –

Challenged! Cannot follow! Price too hard to pay!

3. Luke.22:31-32. Peter. And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren”

Peter’s faith did fail –Grace restored him. Jn.21:15-17. “Do you love Me?”

4. 2.Cor.12:1-10. Thorn in the flesh - First the glory then the flesh – Humility.

Paul’s experience – Lord allows problem to keep Paul dependent upon His grace.

Conclusion:- Everyone has problem/s area that keep us dependent on Him.

Tithing! Commitment! Attitudes! Flesh! Lust! Sex! Lies! Anger! Drunkenness etc.

Areas we thought conquered in Christ return again and again.

Phil.4:13. Roman.8:28---. 1.Cor.10:6-13, v. 12. “Take heed when you think you are strong—“

When we are weak – not reliant upon own strength abilities then we are STRONG IN HIS GRACE and VICTORIOUS!
