THE LORD HIMSELF WILL FIGHT FOR YOU
“The Lord Himself will fight for you”
Introduction. Psalm.91:1-16 NLT
1. Exodus.14:1-31. v.14. “The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm”
Three principles.v.13 & 15. These apply to Israel – God’s people.
a. Don’t be afraid! 2.Tim.1:7.
b. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today!
They need physical deliverance – Moses wants them to develop spiritual sight to
“see” the Lord working on their behalf.
c. v.15. Tell the people to get moving! No contradiction - It’s important when God tells us the victory is ours to move forward and take possession of the promise.
2. Luke.22:31-34. Jesus speaks directly to Peter. He is fully aware that Peter’s faith is going to be violently shaken. Refer Matt.16:13-20.
The above three principles can apply to the individual – This is how the Lord revealed it to me. He is genuinely concerned for us as individuals, within His church.
“The Lord himself will fight for you” (singular)
a. “Simon, Simon, Satan has ask to sift each one of you like wheat” (note – plural)
b. “But I have pleaded in prayer for you Simon” (singular)
c. “That your faith should not fail” – eventually your faith will prevail – overcome fear and doubt!
d. “So when you have repented and turned to Me again, strengthen your brothers”
e. Peter ever over confident – says he will go to prison and die with Jesus!
f. “Word of Knowledge” “Before the rooster cries tomorrow you will have denied Me three times”
3. This is Peter to whom He has given – The Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.
a. Requires faith! Commitment! and Boldness! To preach the Kingdom.
b. Peter is going to go through absolute depths of shame and remorse.
Note:- Why did Jesus let this happen to Peter? – Warns him what is coming, does nothing to prevent it taking place – ONLY TO PRAY!!
c. Unfortunately we cannot help others until we have been through the furnace of affliction ourselves. Peter has to be humbled to become truly effective!
Isaiah.43:1b-3a. “I will be with you”
d. John.21 Peter tries to return to old occupation, Jesus personally intervenes.
e. Acts.1:15-21 & 2:14-41, Peter has dramatically changed. Spirit filled led and anointed!
Conclusion:- Hebrews.14-16 & 7:24-27. Great High Priest – Ever lives to make intercession! For us why? We have been bought with a great price, Jesus fights for us.
