CALLED, CHOSEN AND FAITHFUL

ntroduction. Revelation.17:14 This is a reference to the end times. Who will be with

Christ when He returns at His second coming to the earth?

Obviously those who the latter part of this verse describes. The Called,

Chosen and the Faithful.

Revelation. 19:14, adds further insight to those who accompany Christ.

Ephesians.1:2-22.

v.3. Describes through our union with Christ we already possess

everything good that comes from Heaven. See Eph.2:1-10. v.5, we

are made alive in Christ having been delivered from sin and death

through His sacrifice on our behalf, and have now been created to

produce good works for the Kingdom of God.

v.4 Having been CHOSEN in Him Before the foundation of the world.

v.5. PREDESTINED and ADOPTED into God’s family as SONS

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

v.7.a. REDEEMED through His blood

b. Having also received FOREGIVENESS of our sins through His

blood.

c. By God’s GRACE towards us.

Note:- The rest of this chapter needs to be read in order that we may

realize the enormity of Christ’s finished work towards those of us

who believe in His name, this applies not only to the individual, it

also concerns the church of which we became members of at our re-

birth in Christ.John.3:3-8.

The Apostle Paul, 1.Thess.2:10-12, reminds believers in v.12, that God

Himself has CALLED us into His kingdom and that our walk should be

worthy of this high calling.

1. I trust that the principle of being “CALLED, CHOSEN, and to be FAITHFUL”

is being revealed to those who read these notes?

Some illustrations from the word of God.

a. Luke.1:26-38. The account of Mary the mother of Christ.

v.28-30. “Mary is CALLED” v.29. Doubt? Concern?

v.31-35 “Mary is CHOSEN” To bring Christ into the world

v.34, Mary’s question “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

n.b. v.28 & 30, twice the angel informs Mary that the Lord’s favour is not only

upon her but that she is also highly favored. This points to the fact that Mary was

walking close to the Lord and His word, and especially selected by the Lord for

the specific purpose of fulfillment His word. Isaiah.55:10-11, she is the CHOSEN

vessel available at the right time according to the Lord’s timetable.

Isaiah.7:14. Provides the answer to her question, Isaiah prophetically forecasts:-

“The virgin shall be with child and His name shall be called Immanuel. (God

with us) Galatians 4:4. “But when the time was fully come(set time), God

brought forth His son born of a virgin..

v.36-38. a. Additional assurance by the angel. Your relative Elizabeth who was

barren, is at this moment pregnant.

b. “For with God nothing(rhema = not any word) will be impossible”

n.b. Literally if the Lord can make barren Elizabeth pregnant, He can also

conceive His Son in your womb without any man or human involvement.

c. Mary is convinced replying, “Let it be to me according to your word”

She has accepted the word is genuine and obediently submits, this

reveals her FAITHFULNESS to the Lord and His will.

2. Mark.1:16-18 & Luke.5:1-11. Peter answers the CALL!

Matthew.16:13-19. Peter is specifically CHOSEN.

Unfortunately Peter goes on to deny the Lord three times prior to the crucifixion.

John.21:15-17. Jesus challenges Peter a second time to accept the fact that he has

been CHOSEN to lead the early church. Thankfully Peter has repented and

accepts this second call. Note the Lord does not let go easily if you have been

called and chosen for His purposes.

John.21:18-23. Now Jesus tells Peter how he will die, he wants to know about

John, the Lord says to him, that is not your concern you follow and be

FAITHFUL to the end.

3. Acts.9:1-22. Paul the apostle of Christ. - Damascus road experience.

v.3-9. “CALLED” on the road to Damascus.

v.15 “CHOSEN” vessel, v16. Suffer many things for My names sake.

2.Timothy.4:6-8, v7. Paul says he has been “FAITHFUL”

Conclusion. Note v.8, of 2.Timothy.4:6-8, Paul adds further insight to those who have

answered the CALL, been CHOSEN, and FAITHFUL, he adds to what it

says in Revelation 17:14, by informing believers that there is a CROWN OF

RIGHTEOUSNESS, to be awarded to all those who have loved or longed

for His appearing

Therefore we can conclude there are two special rewards for those who have

been CALLED! CHOSEN! and FAITHFUL! The first reward is to be

given is to wear a CROWN of RIGHTEOUSNESS and the Second great

honour is to be with Christ when he returns to the earth as described in

Revelation. 19:11-16.
