Our God Is A Consuming Fire

Introduction:- Hebrews.12:14-29 “Our God is a consuming fire”

Lev.9:23-10:3. Sons of Aaron - offer false fire.

Ministry to coincide with 10 days of fast/prayer for a new Pentecost at Cornerstone AOG

1. Acts.2:1-4. Genuine fire of the Holy Spirit. Disciples obedient to the Lord

2.1.Kings.17:1-24. God prepares His man for moving of the Spirit.

a. v.2-7. Cherith = Separation - 1st miracle - God can sustains him - Ravens.

b. v.8-16. Zarephath = Refining -2nd miracle - God protects & provides for him

c. v.17-24. 3rd miracle - Restoration of the DEAD TO LIFE thru’ anointed min--.

The Lord is preparing Elijah for the next step into higher ministry! The Lord

wants to use this man to bring the spiritually dead back to resurrection life.

3. 1.Kings.18:1-46. Fire on the mountain - Genuine Holy Spirit fire!

a. Mt Carmel = Fruitful place.

b. Elijah = My God is God.

c. Contest between forces of Light and darkness - Genuine or false!

Question what will bring down the FIRE? Great lessons to be learnt.

v.21-25. The open challenge to false prophets of Baal.

Lesson.1. Fleshly activity can never work! No matter how hard we try

v.26-29. Lesson for the church - Human effort never brings genuine move of

The Holy Spirit.

Sing! Shout! Worship? Perform rituals! Traditions! Dress up! Etc.

Nothing will happen! John.4:23-24.

Note:- Not saying genuine believers are of the devil - Saying we can miss the

mark by relying upon humanistic methods to try and move the Spirit.

Lesson.2. God will move if we do things His way- according to the Word.

v.30-38. Lesson for the Church - Do it God’s way!

a. Elijah was a man prepared by God. Refer.1.Kings.17.

b. v.30. Repair Gods altar in own lives and life of the church - B of Bread.

c. v.31. 12-Stones = Unity - 1.Peter.2:4, living stones.

d. v.32. Rebuild the Altar - Dig trench = PRAYER, bend back = HUMILITY!

e. v.33a. Bull = Strength - Lay on Altar = Christ Crucified! His strength!!!

f. v.33b-35. Saturate with Ephesians.5:26 “Water of the Word”

Note:- 4- Large Jars = Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The Gospels of Christ

3- Times = In name of THE FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT

We need to let the water of God’s word do its work in/on us

g. v.36-37. Time of evening sacrifice - Christ - Lk.23:46 “Father into Your

hands I commend My spirit”

James.5:16b. “The effective fervent prayer of righteous man----”

h.v.38. God’s Holy Fire falls - on the Acceptable sacrifice! Romans.12:1-2.

Note:- When we do things as God requires in His order, things happen in our lives.

Lesson.3. God’s order -Essential in both Church and own lives. It is not

something to be by-passed with our own efforts or ideas of so-called blessings

Conclusion:- Elijah later fails, Jesus has not and never will fail. Hebrews.13:8.
