God has a plan and purpose for your life

Romans.5:1-5. Teaches impatience may cause us to miss out!
Continuation of:- “The Potter’s House” Jeremiah.18:1-6 & 2.Cor.4:6-7.
The making process:-A. The wheel and the Potter’s hands
B. Furnace time - Affliction - designed to seal our shape.
C. Glazing - More fire - purpose to make vessels more presentable
D. Shelf time - Patience until hand picked for a purpose.
1. 1.Samuel.16:1-13. Jesse had eight sons’ vessels in the making - only one chosen!
a David the 8th son, not highly regarded by his father or brothers.
b Samuel arrives - purpose to anoint a new king.
c David is SHUT OUT! HIDDEN AWAY! IGNORED! ON THE SHELF!
Behind his brothers in his fathers estimation!
d1.Cor.1:26-29, God chooses those we so easily reject or despise.
e David already has experienced THE FIRES of PREPERATION, whilst
guarding the sheep. 1.Sam.17:34-36. & 1.Peter.1:7.
f. Called from keeping the sheep to a King’s Anointing!
Note:- Father/brothers saw a “Smelly Shepherd” - The Lord saw His FUTURE KING.
2.1.Sam.16:14-18. David is placed back “ON THE SHELF” Hidden away by his
family.
They failed to recognize the Lord’s anointing upon David. Matt.13:57 & Luke.4:24.
No prophet is honored in his own home or country!
Note:- Although David is hidden away, others are talking positively about this man,
His attributes and ministry are being quietly recognized.
v.17-18. King Saul’s need - brings David off the shelf, into the greater purposes of
God. His character has been noticed:-
a. Skilful in playing music. b. Mighty man of valor. c. A man of war.
d. Prudent in speech. e. Handsome person f. The Lord is with him
v.19-23. David’s first experience of the Throne Room - A servant to King Saul.
3. 1.Sam.17. David and Goliath. His shelf life is over for a time.
Note:- What God has been developing in secret is now being revealed.
The quality of the Potter’s work is proven in one day = 3 victories
a Over anger against his jealous brother Eliab
b Over the Spirit of Unbelief and inactivity
c Over Goliath - The proud blasphemer.
4. Similarity between Joseph, Moses, David and Jesus.
a All had periods of their lives hidden away on the shelf of patience until
characters formed to allow them to fulfill their ministry.
Joseph = Egypt. Moses = Desert. David = Shepherd. Jesus = Nazareth
b Most had brothers who rejected them.
c All by faith and trust overcame obstacles in their lives.
d All became through opposition and adversity - Into positions of the highest
Honor, authority and power.
